Lunch knife in stainless steel and sterling silver in the Caravel model designed by Henning Koppel for Georg Jensen. The design features clean modern lines and a slender tapered form characteristic of Koppel’s functionalist approach to silverware design. Origin: Denmark. Designer: Henning Koppel. Material: Sterling silver 925 and stainless steel. Dimensions: L. 19.5 cm. Period: Produced after 1944. Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Henning Koppel (1918–1981) was a Danish designer and sculptor widely regarded as one of the leading modernists in Danish design. He began collaborating with Georg Jensen in the 1940s and created a number of iconic silver and flatware designs. Koppel’s work is characterised by sculptural simplicity and elegant functionalism inspired by organic forms. His designs for Georg Jensen are today considered among the most important contributions to modern Scandinavian design. See less
