This is a late 19th to early 20th-century French Art Nouveau sculptural table lamp,
measuring 27 inches in height.
The piece features an allegorical, winged female figure (an angel or nymph) rising from an organic base, styled in the manner of the renowned French sculptor Auguste Moreau (1834–1917).
Key Visual and Technical Features
• The Sculpture: The central figure exhibits the fluid lines, dynamic movement, and romanticized feminine form characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. She stands balanced on an organic base that resembles crashing waves or swirling roots, with her garments appearing draped and windswept.
• Materials and Patina: The base and figure are cast in metal—likely patinated spelter (régule) or bronze—finished with a deep, dark brown chemical patina to emulate classic statuary bronze.
• The Light Fixture & Shade: The figure holds aloft a highly distinctive, dome-shaped metallic shade. The shade is inset with colored glass cabochons (in vibrant green and amber) that glow when illuminated, and its lower rim is adorned with a delicate fringe of hanging glass beads to diffuse the light.
• Condition: The electrical wiring has been fully restored and modernized for functional, safe home use, while the external structure and glass components remain intact.
