Authentic 19th-Century Cast Iron and Wood School Desk – Grand Rapids, MI (1885) Bring a genuine piece of American history into your home with this beautiful antique school desk. Manufactured in the historic furniture hub of Grand Rapids, Michigan, this piece features an incredibly detailed, ornate cast iron frame embossed with the original patent date: "PAT. SEP 22, 1885." This desk features a classic flip-up wooden seat and a sloped writing surface complete with its original built-in inkwell cut-out. Unlike many surviving models, this unit comes mounted on its traditional wooden base runners, making it stable, freestanding, and ready to display immediately without needing to be bolted down. The wood finish boasts a rich, warm golden hue with a wonderful natural patina, showing honest wear from decades of historical use.
