The daybed … Read more A stunning French mid-20th century modern daybed or sofa crafted in the Neoclassical taste from gilded wrought iron. The daybed features an elegant gilt decorated wrought iron frame with a beautifully aged patina, revealing the iron underneath. The frame is constructed with a long and tubular top rail accented with spherical finials, X-form cross bracings with circular ring medallions, and a flat iron lattice strap seat. The frame has a sculptural flared form accented by the ball finials on each top corner. The piece rests on slender and splayed feet with small spherical accents. The sofa is topped with a vintage plaid cushion in a woven blend of tan, blue, cream and black raw silk fabric. Crafted in the elegant Neoclassical manner and style of Maison Jansen, and Diego Giocometti. The striking piece is well suited for use as a patio and garden sofa, daybed, or additional seating in a bedroom, library, living room, or study. The frame is sturdy having excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The iron has an intentionally distressed patina to mimic age as seen in photos. The sofa is impressive constructed on a large scale measuring 7 feet wide.
