The Christ Child is shown standing in blessing while holding the globus mundi, symbolizing His dominion over the world. His expressive face, lively gaze and balanced proportions reflect the devotional sculpture produced in the Spanish Colonial world during the seventeenth century. The sculpture preserves numerous traces of its original polychrome decoration together with age-related wear, craquelure and small losses consistent with its age, all contributing to its authenticity and devotional character. It is mounted on a painted wooden pedestal and wears a later gilt metal crown. Dimensions: Height 37 cm; Width 14 cm; Depth 10 cm. See less
