This Art Deco ceramic pedestal vase by Beswick was produced in England during the 1930s and features distinctive relief decoration depicting a pair of gazelles within a stylised modernist landscape. Modelled in an elegant oval urn form raised upon a stepped pedestal foot, the vase embodies the streamlined decorative language associated with the Art Deco period. Relief panels to the front and reverse depict two gazelles amongst stylised foliage and vertical architectural elements, while the sides are finished with sculptural horn-form handles that enhance the vase's symmetrical profile. Finished in a warm buff-toned glaze, the surface displays a soft lustre that complements the sculptural detailing. The restrained colour palette and refined modelling allow the relief decoration to remain the focal point of the design. The underside retains the impressed Beswick mark and model number 1051. Condition is good for its age and use. There is glaze crazing present, most noticeably to the interior, with lighter age-related crazing visible elsewhere. The vase otherwise presents very well with no noted structural issues.
