Presenting a rare and visually striking pair of illuminated Arabic manuscript leaves, dating to the 18th/19th century. These leaves are likely from a copy of Ihya’ Ulum al-Din (Revival of the Religious Sciences), the magnum opus of the revered Islamic theologian Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali (d. 1111).
The composition reflects a high level of courtly craftsmanship. The text features elegant Arabic calligraphy in a clear Naskh hand, beautifully framed within richly decorated borders of gold and polychrome floral motifs in the classical Indo-Persian manuscript tradition.
Royal Provenance: Adding immense historical value, the manuscript bears the oval library stamps of "The Nawab Bahadur of Moorshedabad." This indicates the piece was once part of the distinguished collection of the Nawabs of Murshidabad (Bengal, India), an important center of Islamic culture, wealth, and patronage during the late Mughal and colonial periods.
Artistic & Historical Details:
• Features authentic illuminated gold decoration and vibrant polychrome details.
• Classical introductory passages praising God and referencing the revival of religious sciences.
• A magnificent piece of wall art that blends spiritual history with exquisite aesthetic appeal.
Condition & Framing:
The two original manuscript leaves exhibit visible age-related wear, including natural creases and minor losses that authenticate their centuries-old journey. They have been meticulously preserved and professionally framed in a stunning modern custom frame with an ornate inner border. The artwork is protected under Tru Vue museum-grade UV-protective glass, ensuring its preservation for generations to come.
