These amazing … Read more Offering a rare pair of Italian brass & bamboo beaded snail figurine paperweights, each signed Tarzia-Firenze-Italy, circa 1970s. These amazing snails are quite heavy for their size, please see weight below.

The unique Mid-Century 20th Century Tarzia snail figurines were handcrafted in Florence, Italy, using a combination of solid brass, and African bamboo beads to form the body and spiral shell. The bamboo beads are actually African trading beads, most likely from Ghana, where artisans cut, hollow out, and smooth down small segments of natural bamboo stalks to fashion lightweight, tube-shaped wooden beads.

EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. No missing pieces. These are collector quality items, each retaining their 1970s original Tarzia-Firenze-Italy label. The new owner of these two lovely gems will be very happy about their immaculate condition. Note: The beads on one snail are slightly darker than the other.

Tarzia Firenze was an Italian decorative design studio and manufacturer active in Florence (Firenze), Italy, during the mid-to-late 20th century (most notably the 1960s and 1970s).
Maker Marks: Authentic vintage pieces are typically signed, stamped, or labeled on the base with "TARZIA FIRENZE" or "TARZIA FIRENZE ITALY".
Rather than a mass industrial manufacturer, Tarzia Firenze operated as an artisan design workshop producing high-end decorative home objects, animal figurines, catchalls (vide-poche), and tabletop accents. See less
