This mid-century studio stoneware bud vase has a beautiful sculptural form and a surface that really draws you in. The shape is simple and elegant, with a rounded body and narrow neck, but the carved bands wrapping around the vase give it a lot of texture and movement. The glaze palette of olive, cream, and warm brown feels very much in line with Scandinavian or French studio pottery of the period.
What makes it especially appealing is the balance between structure and warmth. The repeated carved decoration gives the piece a strong geometric look, while the earthy glaze and subtle variation across the surface keep it feeling organic and handmade. It is a versatile size that works well on a shelf, side table, or grouped with other ceramics, but it also has enough presence to stand on its own.
Signed on the underside, though the mark is difficult to clearly decipher, this is a very attractive example of mid-century studio stoneware with the quiet, understated character that makes these pieces so easy to live with.
