These beautiful specimens of the Hollywood Regency Revival Era mimicking French Opaline Glass Table Lamps from the European & Victorian era bring the nostalgic Neoclassical age back to life.
The stunning design and embellishments with their gorgeous Antiguing Gel highlighting the craftsmanship of a bygone era just make you smile.
Circa 1950's - 1970's Hollywood Regency created a revival that had the artists trying to keep up with the MCM demand of the time.
The French Blue Opaline Glass with its semi-translucent milky opalescent quality was highly sought after and recreated in the MCM demand for ornate classical styles of the time.
The cast metal base using actual Antique casting molds to keep up with the MCM demand is evident from the #80 stamped in the base.
Neoclassical theatrical masks or Satyr Faces adorn the metal white enameled belts. In the Hollywood Regency era, satyr faces adorned decorative objects like wall sconces, lamps, and architectural moulding as symbols of opulence, theatrical luxury, and the pursuit of pleasure. Mimicking lavish movie sets, the style used these motifs to evoke the mythic, carefree, and extravagant "high life.
While the white enameled tops resemble crowns bringing even more opulence to these fabulous pieces and the base with its intricate carvings bring the entire piece to life.
The plug shape & flat wire are indicative of pieces made between 1050's - 1970's
Both lamps work as they should with their 3 way socket but a rewire would probably be good if you choose.
In very very nice condition with a small enamel scratch on one belt which is pictured & a slight enamel scratch under one light socket also pictured.
