Produced during the mid-to-late 20th century by the prestigious Jozefina Glassworks in the Krosno region of Poland, this piece is a testament to the region's legendary glassmaking heritage. The sculptural vessel is masterfully formed into an asymmetrical seashell, featuring a striking array of pulled-glass spikes along its top ridge. The color composition is breathtaking, and the interior wells transition into a deep, translucent plum/smoky amethyst gradient, while the exterior features a thick, glossy opaque milk-glass casing that catches lighting beautifully. It's Cased Glass (Vetro Incamiciato) from master glassmakers, layered with an outer jacket of opaque white glass (sommerso) over a deep colored inner core, creating a dramatic, clean structural contrast. The freeform hand-toting & pulling, working at extreme temperatures, the artisan uses specialized pontil rods and jacks to manually stretch out and shape the large, asymmetrical wave body without a static mold. The body's pulled spikes, while still molten, were meticulously gripped and drawn outward one by one, giving the shell its natural, organic profile. An exceptional centerpiece for an entry console, dining room layout, or coastal-chic living space. See less
