The design was created for the German manufacturer Glashütte Limburg, with whom the Finnish designer collaborated later in her career.

The shades are made of thick, molded glass with a distinctive air-bubble texture, from which the series takes its name. The convex, organic forms resemble a cluster of glass bubbles or droplets frozen in glass. The irregularly textured surface beautifully refracts light, creating a rich interplay of reflections and subtle shadows on the wall.

The delicate, slightly amber hue of the glass lends the lighting an exceptionally warm character. Even when turned off, the wall sconces function as small glass sculptures, showcasing the craftsmanship and Tynell’s characteristic fascination with organic forms.
