The defining feature is the double wave-cut back rail — two horizontally stacked slats with sculpted sinuous profiles that create a negative void between them, generating visual tension characteristic of workshop-driven craft production at its most assured.

The through-tenon uprights protrude above the crest rail with deliberate bluntness, a structural honesty rarely seen outside serious cabinetmaker work. The slatted seat — three rounded-edge planks resting on a raked frame — reads as both ergonomically considered and formally rigorous. Ray figuring is visible across the grain, particularly on the back rails, confirming solid-sawn oak throughout.

The wide-stance base with arched lower stretcher gives each chair a grounded, architectural visual weight. There is no ornamentation here that is not also structure.
