Since the Middle Ages, the butcher’s trade has been one of the most prestigious and lucrative professions. This was often reflected in the high quality of their furniture. Even back then, the first butcher’s blocks were created with a top consisting of numerous individual hardwood square timbers set on edge within a frame, to ensure the most durable work surface possible. The principle has remained the same to this day.
This model, with its streamlined, stepped front and wide aluminium profiles along the edges – exemplifying the so-called Streamline Modern or Art Deco styles – still bears witness today to the quality of these rare pieces. Placed in a kitchen or used as a display table, it is both practical and of immense decorative value.


The base unit, standing on rectangular ground, features a black plinth, a body largely coated in white Resopal, and aluminium profiles accented with black rubber edging. The front is bevelled with a gentle, undulating curve from top to bottom and features a large hinged drop-down door, as well as two large drawers above it, crafted from solid beech wood with zinc-plated fittings.

Resting on top of the base unit is a solid beech worktop, 20 cm thick, with a knife slot and a back panel.

Good refurbished condition with age-related signs of wear including partial discolouration. Among other things, the top has been completely sanded, shrinkage cracks filled and a clear sealant applied. Damage to the Resopal (on the right-hand side) has been repaired with adhesive. The plinth has been sanded, re-stained black and sealed. The drawers have been completely sanded and fitted with new handles.
