Emerging from the mid-century Asian craft revival, this substantial cabinet vase, as a magnificent tribute to traditional Chinese Imperial lacquerwork, was cast in a high-density, heavily pigmented composite mineral resin structural foundation, a masterful technical method developed to flawlessly replicate the look and tactile depth of historical multi-layered lacquer carvings. The exterior features crisp, high-relief depictions of dense floral peony medallions, scrolling foliage, and traditional geometric diaper-lattice backgrounds. Highlighting the dual-material construction, a patinated inset brass decorative collar crowns the upper mouth.
