Centered on the theme of the Italian flag, the piece is executed using a refined mixed-media technique. The artist works on a black canvas printed with a musical score, applying white acrylic enamel with a palette knife. Over this surface, she then hand-paints numbers and the Italian tricolor with a brush. The composition is further enriched by the addition of a wooden slat affixed to the enameled ground, onto which a real Italian flag in fabric is mounted. Symbolic elements complete the work: at the top of the slat, a toothed iron wheel is secured and sealed with a lead rod; at the bottom, a vintage telephone token is attached, bound with string and similarly sealed with lead. The result is a highly evocative composition, defined by a precise and deliberate symmetry. Through this structured arrangement, the artist conveys her personal vision of the Italian flag and a distinctive sense of rhythm and musicality. The piece radiates a powerful emotional presence, evoking themes of identity, reverence, and memory. Lella Rendesi, a self-taught and eclectic artist, lived and worked in Prato, where she became a significant cultural figure. Her studio in the historic city center was not only a place of artistic production but also a vibrant meeting point for intellectual exchange.
