This is a flat-sided, arched-top ceramic snuff bottle—a popular collectible form that originated during the Qing Dynasty. The decoration is executed strictly in fine black and grey line work over a white glaze, specifically rendered in the Chine de Commande style (porcelain made in China for European buyers). The figures are depicted in a hybrid style typical of 18th-century export ware. While painted by Chinese artists, the clothing styles (such as the jackets and long trousers) and the bearded figure mimic European dress from that era.
On one side, it portrays a playful figural scene of children and a jumping dog, which is a classic Chinese decorative theme symbolizing domestic joy, lineage, and prosperity.
The artists added tiny touches of iron-red enamel on the skin tones (cheeks and feet), a common accent technique used to breathe life into monochromatic export designs.
Exact age unknown. Possibly made 1960s-1980s.
