Vintage Japanese studio pottery tea bowl, likely intended for matcha or contemplative tea service, featuring a dramatic cratered glaze in earthy bronze, caramel, and charcoal tones. The richly textured surface has an almost lava-like appearance, with organic variations and subtle metallic undertones that shift beautifully in changing light. The interior carries the same intricate mottled glaze, creating a wonderfully immersive handcrafted feel. The bowl has a grounded, substantial presence with a softly rounded form that sits comfortably in the hand. It comes housed in a custom wooden presentation box with fabric wrap and a photograph of the piece affixed to the exterior, suggesting it may have originally been acquired from a gallery or ceramic exhibition. A beautiful decorative object for a wabi-sabi, Japandi, or organic modern interior, and equally compelling as part of a studio pottery or tea ceremony collection. Impressed artist seal on the base, artist unidentified.
