This truly magnificent leaded glass table lamp was produced by the Unique Art Glass & Metal Company of New York (active 1889–1917), circa 1915. It was made in the period immediately following the expiration of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s patent on the famous copper-foil and leaded glass technique in 1903. This opened the door for talented competitors like Unique Art Glass & Metal Company, who created exceptional works closely inspired by Tiffany Studios designs. This example is modeled after the iconic Tiffany Studios Morning Glory lamp. The massive 19" diameter Morning Glory shade is a masterpiece of hand craftsmanship, composed of hundreds of meticulously cut and curved pieces of premium Youghiogheny, Uroboros, and Bullseye art glass. It features vibrant pink and magenta Morning Glory flowers set against lush green foliage with beautiful variegated coloring and an organic, flowing rim that varies from 17" to 18" in length. The shade rests beautifully on a tall reeded library-style bronze base. This superb and extremely rare heavy four-footed cushion base faithfully follows the classic Tiffany Studios Rising Sun design and displays a rich, warm patina. The substantial bronze base perfectly supports the weight of this large shade, creating a truly breathtaking display. As with all lamps produced by the Unique Art Glass & Metal Company, this example is unsigned. Several other respected companies of the era, including Wilkinson and Duffner & Kimberly, also produced similar shades, but this lamp stands as one of the closest interpretations to the original Tiffany Studios design available on the market today. It was produced using the same methods and high level of craftsmanship that Louis Comfort Tiffany himself brought to his work. This incredible lamp has been professionally rewired with an extra-long 6-foot brown rayon fabric cord and plug, plus a convenient brass dimmer switch on the base. The dimmer allows you to adjust all three sockets from low to high, creating the perfect mood lighting. This absolutely one-of-a-kind, museum-quality lamp is a real showstopper and will be the centerpiece of any room or collection. Original Tiffany lamps of this quality have sold at auction for well over one million dollars.
