As a unique feature, these … Read more The Heavy Metal furniture series was launched during the Dutch Design Week in October 2011. As a unique feature, these items can be customized to the needs of the client. The series was designed and carefully handmade in Van Bleiswijk's workshop in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. For this project, steel is used in the way a carpenter would craft with wood. In all the furniture pieces from the Heavy Metal series, steam-rolled steel plates, with their typical dark steam-rolled exterior, are combined with corner profiles from the same material. The steel plates are always used in multiples of 5, with the series resulting in a consequent and logical grid. All steel plates are 4 mm thick; welded together and finished with a transparent lacquer to protect the dark steam-rolled layer. See less
