Walther Zander was a hamburger ceramist, who along with his wife, Karin Zander worked in shared studio. Both completed their training and apprenticeship with Gustav Grimm in Hamburg, where Walther Zander in 1961 opened his own studio, which he led with his wife Karin from the 1962nd Early experiments with glaze techniques for vessels and structural ceramics and collaboration with architects soon led to numerous murals and reliefs that decorate the Hamburg building to this day. In the field of ceramic vessels built and freely rotated stoneware and porcelain were of her work at the center. A special fondness of Zanders was given to very thin walls the twisted bowls, jars and vases, as well as double Kummen with softly rounded edges grip. The Zanders used various glazes with novel partly techniques.
Walther and Karin Zander are among the best known and award-winning North German ceramists.
