c. 1982. Purchased from the estate of an expatriate who lived in Japan for many years. Image size is 13 3/4" x 17". Outside frame dimensions are 20" x 23".
: Created by the master printmaker Ryusei Okamoto (also known as Yoshimi Okamoto. A striking oval portrait of a woman dressed up for a traditional southern island festival in Okinawa, Japan. She is depicted wearing a navy-blue floral kimono and exotic blossoms in her hair, set against a graphic backdrop of islands and ships. First printed in 1982 across different color variations, the print was selected for the prestigious College Women's Association of Japan (CWAJ) exhibition that same year.
