The front seats and backs of the chairs of the front have been upholstered in a persimmon modern cotton mohair, which is a reddish orange. The backs are upholstered in a silk floral pattern, which have faded in areas due to sun exposure. This in no way diminishes the all over beauty. The Ivory colored pine wood is refinished in an ivory satin finish, while the outlines around the ivory tone are in richly colored gold leaf. The gold leaf shows vintage wear in certain areas, while the ivory color finish is near perfect. That's why the chairs are priced to move, where as their initial pricing was much higher. The French fauteuil is a classic French style originating in the 17th Century France. These elegant chairs are usually used as accent chairs or in this case can be used as dining chairs as well. I found them in a French antique store in Los Angeles aptly titled France Tradition. I will also accept offers for pairs. $1600. See less
