A lovely example of a late 19th century silver plated wine bottle holder from England.
Originally designed to hold wine bottles, it adds a touch of elegance for wine and other bottles.
There are two reticulated handles, each in the form of a lion's head holding a ringed handle in its mouth. The collared edge of the receptacle is beautifully molded in the form of winding grape vines and clusters of grapes. The body's form is comprised of a pierced pattern repeating along the entirety of the cylinder, terminating in a solid tiered column base.
This is a very elegant example, and would make a fine decorative addition to any bar or table.
