The simple and essential design of these two Empire vases highlights their elegant proportions; the carving is limited to the central festoon, the foliage on the edges, and the rosettes on the handles. The decoration only affects the front half of the vase, as they came from a side altar and were therefore placed against the wall.

They come from a private Tuscan villa and are in perfect condition, consistent with their 18th-century date, with minimal gilding on the bases. See less
