A handsome set of four vintage Woodard “Pinecrest” wrought iron patio chairs, one of the most enduring and collectible mid-century outdoor designs. The pattern is named for the pinecone-and-pine-needle motif of the matching tables, and the chairs themselves are prized for their sculptural fanned barrel backs, woven metal mesh seats, and gracefully splayed legs.
As is characteristic of the Pinecrest line, the chairs are unsigned, but the form, construction, and mesh seats are unmistakably Woodard.
The set is in good, structurally sound vintage condition with no breaks, bends, or repairs. They retain a beautifully weathered original painted surface, a sage green over the earlier yellow-cream, with crackling, flaking, and light surface rust consistent with age and outdoor use. Lovely as-found for an authentic patinated look, or an excellent candidate for repainting or powder-coating.

The chairs stand level and stable. Cosmetically, they show honest wear consistent with age and outdoor use. The painted surface (a sage green over the earlier yellow-cream finish) is crackled, chipped, and flaking in areas, with scattered spots of light surface rust. There is no structural rust or pitting that affects integrity. The worn, layered patina is part of their vintage character — shown in detail in the photos less
