Signed in ink on back (see photo) with furniture maker's name and address: “Carlo Guido Bartolozzi, Via Morggio 7, Tezzio Sazione, Porta del Prado, Firenze” ( Florence). Also has a stamp on back, “Made in Italy.” The age of the piece was determined by a newsmedia "Antique Detective" that specializes in estimating the age of treasured items. This is an all wood handcrafted piece with beautiful original checkerboard veneer and other decorative wood inlay. The chest is very heavy and quite sturdy. It has several knicks and imperfections consistent with its 100+ years age and use. There is 6 x 6 inch water damage area on the top center of the chest as shown in photos. Legs are sturdy but have imperfections as shown in photos. All 5 drawers can be opened, but are heavy and have imperfections due to age and use. All 6 metal drawer pulls are in very good condition as shown in the photo. There are 2 additional metal key hardware inserts in the center of two drawers. (There is no key, but the drawers open.) I bought the chest from a neighbor over 30 years ago and have used it as an accent piece and to store special occasion china. Please note, this chest is 100+ years and in its original, unaltered condition. It is not in perfect or restored condition, but it is lovely, sturdy, timeless and still very practical in "as is" condition. Dimensions: 40 wide x 24 deep x 38 inches high. See less
