This rare 18th century walnut oil jug is a quietly striking example of early utilitarian pottery, shaped by hand and softened by centuries of use. Its generously rounded body is accented with softly ribbed sides and two small looped handles, while the spout and wide mouth speak to its original purpose in storing and pouring precious oil. The surface has mellowed to a beautifully muted grey-green tone, with scattered areas of wear and mineral staining that tell the story of its long working life. Subtle imperfections, firing marks, and surface variations give the piece an unmistakable sense of age and authenticity. Both sculptural and functional in form, this jug brings depth, texture, and understated character to any shelf, console, or kitchen display.;
