Tonalist Etching by Harold Altman, Signed & Titled "Park with Walking Figures" and numbered 96/200 in the series. Circa 1960's. Both etching and frame are in excellent-mint condition with a crisp plate impression and rich darks; pristine. Altman has been recognized as one of the most influential American printmakers of the twentieth century.
The atmospheric, sepia toned etching is matted under glass and housed in a quality custom frame with subtle bronze/gold border which complements the artwork very nicely. This piece came to us through the estate of artist Jerry DiFalco.
Frame measurement is 12 3/8" width and 10 1/2" height. The print image area is 6 1/2" x 4 1/2".
Born in the Bronx in 1924, Harold Altman was an American painter and printmaker best known for his linear etchings and vibrant color lithographs. His prints of Central Park, the parks of Paris and rural Pennsylvania can be found in museums and private collections throughout the world.
