The facade features beautifully carved Gothic arch motifs, substantial oak construction, original ring pulls, and wonderfully distinctive snake-form hinges that lend the piece an unmistakable old-world character.
Inside, the wardrobe is thoughtfully designed with a full hanging section to the left complete with a clothing rod, while the right side provides an organized storage system featuring multiple shelves, an enclosed compartment with glass door, and original labeled sections for hats, shirts, underwear, and sundries. These surviving details offer a fascinating glimpse into how the piece was originally used and are among my favorite features.

What I love most is the balance between beauty and practicality. The architectural carvings, rich oak grain, and decorative hardware give the wardrobe tremendous character, while the interior remains surprisingly functional by modern standards. Unlike many oversized antique wardrobes, this piece offers generous storage within a footprint that works comfortably in today's homes.
The original snake-form hinges are particularly charming, and the combination of Gothic arches, textured glass, and labeled compartments creates a piece that feels both stately and wonderfully personal.
