This superb Japanese tea glass (Yunomi) embodies the excellence and meticulous craftsmanship of the renowned Kutani manufactory.

Subject and Style: The exterior is entirely hand-decorated with the traditional and intricate "Hundred Poets" (Hyakunin Isshu) scene, composed of countless figures in period costumes painted with polychrome enamels on a rich gold background. The interior reveals a masterpiece of micro-calligraphy: the entire surface is densely covered with tiny, highly precise hand-painted Japanese ideograms.

Material and Finish: The piece is crafted from the finest Japanese porcelain. The exterior base is embellished with an elaborate gold mesh pattern on red enamel and features the distinctive Kutani seal in the center with gold ideograms. The piece rests on an elegant circular base made of shaped and carved dark wood.
