Pale stone, matte-glazed Model 148 vase by Arne Bang, Denmark, 1930s. Incised AB signature on the base. Incised marks are often found on pieces Bang created as test glazes, prototypes, or unique items. The pale stone glaze, in combination with an incised mark on a Model 148, suggests a production date from the late 1930s to the 1940s. This example shows the mottling also associated with Bang’s earlier work. During this period, Bang heavily favoured matte, earthy tones. This example shows a higher than normal level of detail seen in Model 148 vases. This piece has an attribution mark,
