Mid-century California studio pottery sculpture depicting an echidna, or spiny anteater, rendered in a highly abstracted biomorphic form. The elongated silhouette, rhythmic field of sculpted spines, and pronounced snout demonstrate a sculptural approach that prioritizes form, texture, and material presence over literal representation.
Executed in earthenware with a crackle-glazed body accented by flowing green majolica glaze, the work reflects the experimental character of postwar California studio ceramics.
