item :
a delightful small figurine in the finest porcelain depicting a young peasant girl in elegant dress, captured in the act of lovingly playing with the duck she holds in her hands. The piece is signed under the base with the historic capodimonte factory mark, the famous letter "n" under a crown, in blue underglaze and dating to the late 19th century (late 19th century). The artistic style is fully in line with the romanticism of the period, enriched with refined aesthetic references to the rococo style.
useful information for appraising this item:
market research on online platforms shows that similar porcelain sculptures from the capodimonte factory are offered for prices ranging from €200-€400 to over €1,500, depending on factors such as size, production period, and decorative complexity. While not imposing in size or overly elaborate in decoration, the piece offered here stands out for its undeniable age, the presence of the original late-nineteenth-century hallmark, and an extraordinary, delicate elegance, especially in the delicate lilac tones of the decorations, making it a highly visually pleasing piece.
information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
capodimonte porcelain owes its name to the famous hilly area of naples where, in the first half of the 18th century, king charles of bourbon and queen maria amalia of saxony founded the royal factory. Today, in addition to the prestigious national museum of capodimonte, the historic masterpieces of this manufacture are preserved and displayed in important neapolitan museums, such as the duca di martina museum at villa floridiana, the filangieri museum, and the diego aragona pignatelli cortes museum. The last photos provide some historical insights from a specialist volume in french. Among the various historical marks illustrated in the text, it is also possible to identify the one under the base of our sculpture, specifically the number 7, which, as per the historical notes, is also made in blue underglaze.
