Mid-Century Pair of Italian Richard Ginori Soup Tureens Porcelain
A beautiful and rare pair of soup tureens with matching lids.
These elegant designer pieces feature a globular body resting on a slightly flared ring foot.
They are fitted with two side handles in the shape of ears, integrated into the refined design to provide a firm yet elegant grip.
The domed lid is topped with a knob shaped like a pine cone or acorn, a typical element of late 18th-century and Neoclassical decorative repertoire.
High-quality white porcelain, glossy and free from visible imperfections, serves as the ideal canvas for the polychrome decorations.
The ‘bouquet-style’ floral decoration features wildflowers in vibrant shades of red and cobalt blue with touches of yellow, complemented by dark green foliage.
The motifs are arranged asymmetrically across both the body and the lid, a technique that lends dynamism and a sense of lightness to the composition.
The design draws inspiration from 18th-century pieces produced by the Doccia manufactory, renowned for their combination of robust forms and delicate painted decorations.
Pieces of this kind are among the most sought-after by collectors for their timeless elegance.
This wonderful pair of porcelain, never before on the market, comes from an important European private collection.
The image below shows a backstamp from the renowned Italian porcelain manufacturer Richard Ginori.
This specific "Green Crown" mark is characteristic of the company's mid-20th-century production.
At the top of the mark is a stylized five-pointed crown with distinct radiating lines.
This symbolizes the long-standing prestige of the manufacturer, which has historical roots dating back to 1735.
The words "Richard Ginori" are rendered in a unique, organic typeface.
The letters feature varying line weights and soft, rounded terminals, reflecting a hand-drawn, artisanal aesthetic.
Below the brand name is an alphanumeric code, "G-7", which typically serves as an internal production or series identifier for the specific piece.
The word "Italy" appears at the bottom in an elegant, italicized cursive script, certifying the geographic origin of the porcelain.
The entire mark is applied in a deep chromic green underglaze.
This color was frequently used by Ginori for their export and high-quality domestic lines during the 1950s and 1960s.
The stamp is applied as a backstamp (or "marchio"), centered on the underside of the vessel.
The slight irregularities in the ink density suggest a transfer-printed application, common for mass-produced luxury porcelain of that era. This piece has an attribution mark,
