Rich botanical detail, finely observed wildlife, and a sophisticated color palette create a scene of remarkable depth and visual interest. Panel is hand-painted to depict a naturalistic scene of a lush landscape with a flowering tree, flora, and fauna along a small body of water in the lower left quadrant. Two ducks can be seen in the lower left with a pair of birds in flight on center left, and a third bird flying down from the upper left quadrant. Another pair of birds can be seen perched on the tree in the upper right panel near center. The panel showcases the decorative appeal that made Chinese wallpapers among the most coveted luxury furnishings of the 18th and 19th centuries.
