Gilded and bronzed wooden frame from the 17th century, central Italy.
This Louis XIV frame features fine carvings with plant motifs and acanthus leaf scrolls. The gilding and bronze plating are original, and it is in excellent condition; it has not undergone any restoration. This type of frame was typically used to embellish religious paintings or to hold mirrors in noble salons.
Dimensions: height 72 cm - width 64 cm - depth 6 cm - opening 46 cm x 37.5 cm - hinge 50 cm x 41.5 cm.
