Super chic highly decorative English metal uniform case manufactured by Jones Brothers & Co Ltd. of Wolverhampton, England in the early 20th Century.
Made of pressed steel, the case features a striking black ground decorated with a repeating red crescent motif that reminds of vintage French luggage. Similarly painted steel trunks with this motif were associated with boarding school culture in British West Africa. The original hardware, side handles, and inset lock plate remain in place, all showing a warm, age-appropriate patina.
The interior is finished in its original light gray enamel paint and includes the original mirror mounted inside the lid. Designed for storing and transporting uniforms, the case now works equally well as an under-console storage piece, or decorative accent in industrial, English country, or eclectic interiors.
