Gorgeous vintage French Louis XVI Directoire style camel back sofa composed of a walnut frame and upholstered in a red … Read more Gorgeous vintage French Louis XVI Directoire style camel back sofa composed of a walnut frame and upholstered in a red and gold Gaston Y Daniela through Brunschwig & Fils International (a part of Brunschwig & Fils) cut velvet fabric with a single loose, zippered bench cushion cover hosting a feather down pillow insert, 4 feather down filled accent pillows including 1 rectangle lumbar and 1 square in the matching sofa fabric, 2 matching rectangle pillows with red faux silk flanged shams. The frame is comprised of outward flared and swooped arms, 3 straight, turned and fluted front legs, a surrounding apron with hand carved groove details and floral rosettes on the corner blocks, and 3 straight tapered square back legs with an outward splay. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, the left front leg was loose and reglued, the wood has a warm age patina, and the fabric is in fabulous condition. This is a PHENOMENAL camel back sofa composed of a WONDERFUL walnut frame bearing outward flared and swooped arms featuring lovely hand carved rosettes, 3 straight, turned and fluted front legs, a surrounding apron with groove details and hand carved floral rosettes on the corner blocks, and 3 straight tapered square back legs with an outward splay and it is upholstered in a stunning ELITE dual toned red and gold Gaston Y Daniela fabric offered through Brunschwig & Fils International (a part of Brunschwig & Fils) cut velvet fabric with a single loose, zippered bench cushion cover hosting a down feather pillow insert, 4 down filled accent pillows including 1 rectangle lumbar and 1 square in the matching sofa fabric, 2 matching rectangle pillows wearing GORGEOUS cranberry red faux silk flanged shams. WOW!!! It has upholstered armrests, and fully upholstered sides, front apron, and back. Can we just say… OH, LA LA!!!!! For those that may not be aware, Gaston Y Daniela is a premier luxury fabric house offering “to the trade only” exclusive designer fabric, wallpaper, and textile brand. They were founded in 1876 in Madrid, Spain and historically, their fabrics and textiles have graced some of the world’s most iconic homes and interior spaces and they are widely known throughout the international market. This particular vintage Gaston Y Daniela through Brunschwig & Fils International fabric is in EXCEPTIONAL condition for its age and… FYI… we have a bit of an “inside scoop” where this sofa is concerned. Remember when we said that “Sometimes in life, what goes around… Comes back around??” Well, it’s very true in this instance!! My parents are notable retired interior designers… and if you lived in the Topeka, Kansas or surrounding vicinity… you knew who they were, and you DEFINITELY wanted to hire them to redesign your living space!!! This piece was a part of a collection they originally did for a past client and now… A FEW years later, those pieces have come back around, and MAN are they still beautiful!!! This sofa bears an eye-catching French Louis XVI and Directoire style aesthetic you are sure to love for years to come! Plus, there’s just something EXTRA comfortable about a single bench seat cushion… No pesky cushion cracks AND it’s feather down!!! SO NICE!!!
