Bold, Beautiful, and Baker to BOOT!!! You heard that right folks!!! This is a magnificent coffee table by Baker Furniture composed of a handsome (and rather large!) mahogany frame including a rectangular tabletop with exceptionally beautiful wood grain and a fabulous, fluted edge, lovely hand carved details under the fluted edge, and corner blocks bearing spectacular star or diamond hand carved details. It is raised upon fantastic vertical triple cluster faux bamboo legs with square feet (indicative of Chinese Chippendale style!), and it is sturdied by a dynamic double bar X stretcher base featuring faux bamboo details, square connectors with carved florets on the leg clusters, an X connector in the center of the stretcher. Can we just say… WOW!!!! It also bears the proud “Made in the USA” Baker tag and label under the tabletop. It has a larger aesthetic and will be stunning in your living or family room adorned with foliage, sculptures, artwork, books, and your TV remotes!! It exudes incredible lines, an elegant Chinese Chippendale aesthetic, and it has an exclusive Baker Furniture reputation!!! This extraordinary coffee table checks EVERY box!!!!!
Baker is one of the most prestigious names in furniture! They were founded in 1890 by Siebe Baker, an immigrant from the Netherlands as an interior woodwork and door company. Three years later they made their first piece of furniture. In 1910 Siebe’s son, Hollis S. Baker, joined the company as a salesman and throughout most of Baker’s existence it was a family-controlled business, even being sold and repurchased in the 1920s-1930s. Baker is considered a design legacy and over the years they have produced furniture designed by such greats as Donald Desky and Kem Weber in the early 20th century, Finn Juhl in the mid-20th century, and John Saladino and Barbara Barry in the late 20th century. They have introduced many award-winning furniture collections including, during the 1940s and 1950s, Far East Collection, the first Asian furniture collection manufactured in the USA; and Palladian Collection an Italian neo classic design. Then, in the 1960s and 1970s the introduction of country English and French Provincial featuring the reproduction of choice antiques from the home of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford. After decades of being in the Baker family hands, in 1969 it was sold to Magnavox then in 1986 to Kohler Co. It remains today a part of Kohler & operates out of North Carolina. Still one of the top names in furniture.
This magnificent Baker coffee table makes a statement heard by designers and homeowners alike. If you appreciate exquisite beauty as much as we do, don’t wait… you MUST make it YOURS!!!!
