A rare and collectible limited edition bronze relief sculpture titled “Interlocution” by Barry Tinsley, the American artist born in 1942 whose work is held in the Smithsonian American Art Museum and other major public collections, and who became a prominent figure in the Chicago sculpture scene. This piece is from an edition of 25, mounted in a walnut shadow box frame, with the original museum-style label identifying the artist, title, date, and edition on the lower front.
Tinsley received his MFA from the University of Iowa in 1968 and has produced hundreds of sculptures for private collections and over 35 pieces commissioned for public display in the US, Europe, and the Middle East. His work bridges abstraction and organic form, and “Interlocution” is a perfect example of that language. The bronze elements, suggestive of figures in conversation, interlock and flow across the warm walnut ground with remarkable fluidity.
This is a museum quality piece with documented provenance, edition numbering, and institutional presentation. Pieces by Tinsley appear regularly at major auction houses including Freeman’s Hindman and Rago Arts. An exceptional acquisition for the serious collector.
Signed, dated, and numbered 1/25. Sold as shown.
