It has many names, Merchants, Wedding chest etc. No matter what name you use this beautiful and extremely rare piece will be the prized piece of your collection. Special Features include wood pinned construction. The cabinet is 4 pieces, a base piece with original ink markings from craftsman who made it, 3 pieces each averaging 19 inches for a height of 64 inches, 68 inches wide and 16 inches deep. As you examine the photos you will see the hand forged iron hardware and detailed carvings in each of the finger slides for the upper doors. Additional ink markings are found on the upper cabinet interior as well as a paper label also in Japanese. The linage of this piece is that it returned to the US with a stationed officer who traveled the world. That would explain how the massive piece came to the US. See less
