Exceptional 1984 Karges Furniture chinoiserie credenza featuring beautifully executed gilt landscape scenes over a deep black lacquer finish. The decoration appears to be hand-painted rather than transfer decorated, with pagodas, bridges, flowering trees, and mountainous scenery rendered with impressive detail and depth.
Raised on traditional Asian chow-style legs, the piece showcases elegant proportions, fine gold linework, and a rich lacquer finish that gives it a sophisticated, old-world presence. Crafted by Karges Furniture, the credenza features solid wood construction, dovetailed drawers, beautifully finished interiors, and the level of craftsmanship for which the company is well known.
