Barrel-shaped and copper-bound, this oak staved wine jug carries the quiet weight of rural French working life. Vessels like this were everyday objects across wine and cider-producing regions of France, used from the 18th century well into the early 1900s. Functional, honest, and built to last generations.
Over time, the oak staves have naturally separated slightly, making this a decorative piece only. That wear is part of the story: aged wood, patinated copper hoops, and a hand-forged handle that took a century to look this good.
It sits beautifully on a kitchen shelf, bar cart, or alongside other collected European pieces where lived-in character does all the talking.
