The ivory-colored vessels with monochrome ivory glazes were widespread, especially cylindrical storage containers used to preserve vegetables in oil and vinegar or fish in salt. This light, cheerful ceramic, known as "robba bianca," is the finest of the "ceramica rustica," and with its tin-containing glaze and double firing, also the most expensive.
