An expressive Japanese figure of Daikokuten, the god of good fortune, prosperity and abundance, carved from solid wood.
Dimensions: height 60 cm, width 24 cm, depth 16 cm.
Daikokuten is depicted here with his characteristic round belly, joyful smile, tall hat and lucky mallet, the uchide no kozuchi. He stands on rice bales and carries a large sack on his back, classic symbols associated with wealth, food, protection and good fortune. The mallet is finished with a carved circular mark, adding extra detail and character to the piece.
The sculpture is richly worked, with visible carving in the face, clothing, rice bales and decorative motifs on the robe. The warm honey-brown wood tone, softly polished surface and lively expression give the figure a strong yet friendly presence.
Today, this piece works beautifully as a symbolic Japanese interior accent. It can be placed on a low cabinet, console, pedestal or in an entrance hall, where it brings both decorative and meaningful presence. with its size, warm wood tone and expressive character, it is a unique object for an interior with Japanese, eclectic or wabi-sabi influences.
In very beautiful vintage condition, with light signs of use, minor age-related wear and patina consistent with age and material.
