This characterful coffee table, designed by Angel Pazmino for Muebles de Estilo (Ecuador, 1960s), is a beautiful example of mid-century design with a Latin American character. The table stands out thanks to its solid, thick saddle leather top. This leather is handcrafted with rich, deeply embossed patterns featuring traditional Inca and Maya motifs, framed by an elegant geometric border. Over the years, the leather has acquired a beautiful, weathered patina that enhances its historical appearance. What makes this piece particularly special is the expert modification made in the late 1970s. In keeping with the luxurious interior trends prevailing at the time, a cabinetmaker replaced the original base with two sleek legs in a wenge finish. This dark, characteristic tropical hardwood forms a perfect, harmonious match with the warm brown leather. Designer: Angel Pazmino
