Vintage Female Crash Test Dummy on Display Stand 6 feet Automobilia Perfect For Man Cave
Unbridled opportunity for the automotive aficionado to purchase a full-size vintage 6-foot female “Crash Test Dummy”. Get the ultimate man cave display, that no one else can ever have. This custom hand-made vintage semi-articulated display was conceived and created by a prestigious Hollywood artist, in the 80’s, it was originally constructed for an automotive client for a TV Commercial. Made in Hollywood, CA, and acquired directly from artist.
Overall she is in very good condition with resin and fiberglass and is displayed within a sturdy metal commercial-grade shaft, as well as a well-built transparent base made of thermoplastic plastic aka: Plexiglass base, so she always stands upright.
Crash test dummies originated in the 1940s for aircraft ejection seat testing, leading to the first automotive dummy, the VIP, in 1968. Over time, they became more sophisticated, with the development of the Hybrid I, II, and later the Hybrid III series, which is the current standard for frontal impact tests. Today's dummies are made with materials like steel, aluminum, and vinyl, are equipped with advanced sensors, and include variations for different body types, ages, and impact types, such as side and rear impacts.
The first such commercially mass-produced crash dummy was invented by Samuel Alderson. Dubbed "Sierra Sam," the dummy was introduced in 1949 to test aircraft ejection seats, aviation helmets, and pilot safety harnesses.
