An exceptional, large-scale devotional masterwork depicting a standing Buddha framed by a massive, highly detailed archway halo, resting on an integrated lotus throne with a spectacular uncleaned verdigris and charcoal patina. Hand-cast via traditional lost-wax sand molds, this substantial altar piece marks a dramatic and powerful escalation in scale for the collection. This impressive 16.5-inch-tall sculpture portrays a standing Buddha configured in absolute symmetry. He stands in a grounded, linear posture atop a raised circular lotus pedestal, with both hands raised symmetrically at chest height, palms facing outward, in a double Abhaya Mudra—the sacred gesture of fearlessness, protection, and deep spiritual peace.
What elevates this specimen into a museum-grade sculptural focal point is the magnificent, integrated architectural halo or prabha archway that completely frames the figure. The towering arch springs from two stylized structural side supports and curves elegantly overhead, detailed with dense, traditional incised scrollwork patterns that create a beautiful crown-like silhouette. The entire ensemble rests permanently upon an elongated, tiered, oval altar base. Over more than a century of atmospheric exposure, the heavy bronze alloy has developed an extraordinary surface history. A thick, textured crust of deep sage-green verdigris and mineral oxidation blankets the entire structure, contrasted beautifully by darker charcoal and umber tarnish nestled deep within the relief carvings of the archway. It serves as an incredibly prestigious visual anchor, bringing profound old-world soul, architectural line, and gallery-level gravity to a modern fireplace mantel, a primary console table, or a prominent entry alcove.
