This gentleman's writing desk was created in 1911 as part of a comprehensively designed study for the architect Maximilian Rossipaul. A surviving copy of the original invoice clearly documents its manufacture by the Viennese cabinetmaking workshop of Julius and Josef Herrmann, one of the most important workshops associated with Viennese Modernism around 1900. The key belonging to the desk is also marked, underscoring the complete authenticity of the ensemble.
from Rossipaul's originally unified study, our collection includes not only the desk but also the matching armchair, a bookcase, and two club chairs, offering a rare glimpse into a nearly completely preserved interior from this period. Further information and photos of the armchair and the two club chairs will follow.
